How a TDS Meter Works

TDS Meter

Maybe some of you are not familiar with Conductivity TDS Meter. This device is used to measure the conductivity of the solution. After that, there will be estimation of the TDS from that. We can use a TDS meter to know the concentration of dissolved solids. In addition, we can also use a TDS meter to analyze the purity of fresh water. Salts and minerals as dissolved ionized solids can increase the conductivity of a particular solution. Thus, we need a TDS meter to find out the precise conductivity of the solution.

If you are an aquarist, you will need a Total Dissolved Solids meter to analyze the fresh water purity and to find out if the tap water purification systems can work properly. Even though this device is very useful but there is a drawback of this device. These TDS meters cannot measure all kinds of dissolved solids. Besides, TDS meters have several different units of measure. Otherwise, a typical Total Dissolved Solids displays the TDS in parts per million. In one case, if we see that the TDS reading is 1 ppm, it means that there is one milligram of dissolved solids in every one kilo of water.
